Acting Classes

Drama is a fun class and an excellent tool for developing communication and confidence.

We explore characterisation through imagination and improvisation, look at expression through drama games, rediscover the voice working on projection, articulation and accents and preen our technique through solo and group scenes.

The safe environment gently encourages creativity and is an exciting yet controlled outlet for energy.

Stagecraft and stage presence will constantly grow as will confidence freeing the voice, body and self-expression.

Mask, mime and movement feature in the class work. We also run TV classes – the students learn different camera angles and shots and make their own adverts to watch back. As the terms progress we also spend time rehearsing for stage productions which will be performed at a local theatre.

Singing Classes

Develop a love of music and performance.

Our singing class works on the voice, technique and range. The singing voice is gently developed by fun group and solo numbers.

The singing style covers Classical, Musical Theatre, Disney, Current Hits and Characterisation songs.

The classes encourage an appreciation and understanding of music and of the voice.

Voice exercises are vital; these enable us to understand how the voice and body works when singing – from this we gain results such as good posture, a free supported voice and most importantly confidence and a love of singing.

Dance Classes

Explore the pleasure of dance.

Dance is important for spiritual, mental and physical well-being.

Our teaching style cover Classical, Street, Modern, Musical Theatre, Themed dance, Rhythm games and of course include a warm up and cool down. Another area we work on is storytelling through dance and expression. Nearing showtime we work on rehearsing and perfecting the choreography.

The class is a fun way of developing fitness, strength and posture together with control and poise. The results are technique and exciting dance routines. The class is suitable for all levels of experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Debut, learning to sing, dance and perform in their seasonal show cases. I also completed my LAMDA exams having achieved distinctions in all but one. I am now studying drama at college and looking to progress through to University. Debut provided the basis, confidence and tuition I needed, in a warm friendly environment with caring teachers. I was made to feel part of the Debut Family from day one. Rachel and her team continue to support me with advice and guidance till this day.
